Call for contributions

The Renaissance Revue invites scholars, artists, practitioners, researchers, activists, creators and inventors to come together to examine the contours of the renaissance that is taking place before us.

The Renaissance Revue is also an invitation for creators to attempt to bring new life to places, moments and art that no longer exist, due to the confluence of evolution, time and movement.

Although future generations are best suited to place the significance of current shifts, we can begin to ask certain questions.

  • What is “our” renaissance and how will it be sustained?

  • How is the renaissance emerging in various disciplines?

  • What opportunities exist for creating new art, new scholarship and new ways of problem-solving?

  • What is the role of restoration in the creative process? To what extent does restoration of previous works include incorporating modern and multi-disciplinary elements?

  • How can humanity be brought forward by revisiting and reinterpreting some of our most classic examples of art and philosophy?

  • For you, and for the world, what moment, period or discipline needs to be recreated, relived or reinterpreted through a new lens?

Submissions should include the following:

  • Contact information (name and email)

  • Institutional affiliation and/or address

  • Title and type of contribution (paper, performance, lecture)

  • Abstract/summary (300 words)

  • CV (no more than 4 pages)

  • Optional: 1-2 illustrations

The goal is to publish the first edition of The Renaissance Revue in November 2022, which marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of Marcel Proust.

Submissions may be sent by e-mail to caroline@studio-vivace.com.
